Academic Careers: Insights from and a Conversation with Dr. Mikki Hebl, Dartmouth Grad ’97

Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 12:00 PM until 1:00 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

Are you considering a career in academia? Join a conversation with Dr. Mikki Hebl, who got her PhD in psychology at Dartmouth in 1997. She taught at Dartmouth for one year as a visiting professor and has been teaching at Rice University for the last 27 years. In this dynamic conversation, Mikki will share wisdom from her vast experiences (e.g., sabbatical at Stanford, teaching on Semester at Sea, teaching at Global Rice in Paris) and from the Professional Issues in Academics that she regularly teaches. She will also talk about the way in which she balances academia with her other passions (i.e., three children, traveling, running marathons, crafting, and issues related to social justice).
